Let’s hear from you.

I would like my blog to be a forum for my readers to share their stories and experiences and express their views and opinions about being a part of a blended family. I am working on a book tentatively titled:Blended Family Stories. It will be an in depth look at the real life challenges and joys of successful blended families. If you would like to be part of my research I'd love to hear from you.Take my Blended Family survey

  • TOP OF THE MARK

view-from-mark-hopkinsPaul and I just got back from a short business trip to San Francisco. We left Friday morning to attend an architect’s convention at the Moscone Convention Center. We did not have a booth there, but one of our suppliers, VELUX, manufacturers of solar panels and skylights, invited us to join them so we could meet with visiting architects. Paul wanted to introduce them to the new product he has been developing. Due to the economy, the show was not well attended, but we still had a lot of fun. It is so great that we get to go off on these little jaunts together. We stayed at the famed San Franciso landmark hotel; The Mark Hopkins. This photo is the view from our hotel room.

The sales manager of VELUX  took us out to dinner to a lovely Italian restaurant in the Marina district called A-16. I recommend the pizzas and the gnocci. They have an excellent wine list too including wonderful desert wines like passito. This morning we had breakfast at The Top of the Mark, located on the 19th floor of the hotel. It has gorgeous panoramic views of the Golden Gate bridge, Alcatraz and Fisherman’s Wharf. The most expensive breakfast I can ever recall eating, but I guess you pay for the view.

Later visited with some friends who live in South Beach and then headed home along the coast. It was misty and foggy, but still a great ride. We stopped for lunch along the way at The Davenport Roadhouse Restaurant  which is  known for their cozy ambiance and great ocean views. We sat by the fireplace to keep warm, had a few beers and plot the course of our next business move. It was a very productive two days and the weekend’s not over.
