  • OMG! WHAT’S THAT SMELL?

At about 2am this morning, Paul and I were awakened by the sound of our dog, Joey, barking at what we thought was probably a raccoon or an opossum. Not. It was a skunk. Skunk as in stink. EEEWWWWHH!!! Man, it was baaaaad. So bad, Sophia, whose room is next to ours, got out of bed and slept on the couch in the living room. By morning, the worst was over. Or so I thought. I lit some candles, opened the windows and sent the kids off to school. A few hours later I got a call from Sophia. “Mom. I smell really bad. I was sitting in math during first period and everyone around me kept saying, ‘Oh my god. What’s that smell?’ I think its me, Mom. I think I smell like skunk! Can you come get me so I can take a shower and change my clothes?”  Horrified, I drove to her school to get her and she did indeed smell like skunk. We had to wash her bed linens and all of her clothes. She took a half hour shower, changed her clothes and went back to school.  I figured that was the end of it. Then I picked up Cheryl and Eva and they both complained that their friends told them they stank. Can you believe I sent my children to school smelling like skunk? What kind of mother am I?

On a side note: Neither of the boys made any mention of anything having to do with the skunk. They were completely oblivious.
