Let’s hear from you.

I would like my blog to be a forum for my readers to share their stories and experiences and express their views and opinions about being a part of a blended family. I am working on a book tentatively titled:Blended Family Stories. It will be an in depth look at the real life challenges and joys of successful blended families. If you would like to be part of my research I'd love to hear from you.Take my Blended Family survey

  • EVA’S CREATIVITY

evas-cartoon Eva inherited her father’s artistic talent for caricature, cartoon and doodling. She is also a great illustrator. When she was really little she used to spend hours in her room drawing pictures and writing stories about them. I have saved most of her creations. My favorite title of hers is, “Please Don’t Take Me Out to the Ball Game.” I guess she doesn’t like baseball.

Recently, she decided she wanted to make a dress, so I took her to the fabric store to pick out the material. She carefully and methodically perused the store, selecting coordinating prints of florals, dots and stripes (I think there was some tulle in there too.) and brought them to me for approval. I told her, “Eva, you can’t just make a dress without a pattern. You have to have something in mind. We need to buy a pattern.” With that she pulled a piece of paper out of her pocket on which she had sketched her design that I swear was worthy of Vogue. Teen Vogue, that is. We estimated how much fabric she would need to make each part of the dress, had the fabric cut and brought it home. Stay tuned for details on the creation of “The Dress.” Meanwhile, enjoy her cartoon drawing she did for her 7th grade class based on a fairytale she wrote called “Rosemary and the Fairy.” The teacher put all of the kids in her class’s work into a book and Eva’s was selected for the cover. I asked her if I could put hers on my blog and she was very flattered.
